Rooted in chain making, The She Collection draws from traditional techniques like the loop-in-loop chain. Re-imagining their structure through bending, folding, and experimental connections. I incorporate references to Cuban and Figaro links, enlarging the loops to evoke the bold aesthetics of 1980s and ’90s hip hop jewelry. Looped chunky ceramic charms glazed in purples, pinks, and yellows, offering a femme contrast to the bronze chains.
I consider how each piece interacts with the body, extending clasps and shifting silhouettes from chokers to long necklaces. My work honors contemporary Black women, using adornment to explore identity and cultural history. It merges fashion, memory, and tradition, transforming established techniques into wearable expressions of Black femininity.
